– The Georgetown University women's basketball senior guard Dionna White
(Baltimore, Md. / Milford Mill) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office. This is the first player of the week award for the Hoyas this season and the second of her career. Georgetown has earned four nods to the honor roll this year.
White posted her 12th double-double of her career in a 68-61 victory over Xavier in the BIG EAST opener on Saturday. She had 24 points and 12 boards, while adding four steals and seven assists. The Hoyas came back from a 16-point deficit to move to 1-0 in league play and 7-5 overall.
Averaging 15.3 ppg as well as 8.8 rpg, she ranks fifth in the league in scoring and fourth in rebounds.
Georgetown will continue BIG EAST play on Monday as the squad hosts the Butler University Bulldogs at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) with Matt Janus and Monika Moore calling the action.
