Feb. 14, 2018

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter has announced the 2018 spring schedule. They Hoyas will compete in five tournaments, including the BIG EAST Championships at the Callawassie Island Country Club in Callawassie, South Carolina.

"We are excited for the spring season ahead. It has been a long winter," said Georgetown Men's Golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter. "Our spring training trip to the West Palm Beach area in early March is just what we need to prepare with a lot of golf in four days."

Opening the spring slate in the Sunshine State, the Blue & Gray travels to Boca Raton, Florida, to take part in the Slomin Autism Championship, hosted by Florida Atlantic, from March 23-25.

A trio of events in April set the stage for GU's attempt at its second BIG EAST title in the past three years. Georgetown opens the month at the ECU Intercollegiate in Greenville, North Carolina, on April 2-3 before returning north for back-to-back tournaments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Hoyas will play in the Princeton Invitation on April 7-8 before attempting to retain their title at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State on April 16-17.

"We open the spring season at the Florida Atlantic Invitational which features a large field of teams competing while our second event at the East Carolina Intercollegiate always provides a competitive field," Hunter continued. "Then we turn north a bit and compete in the Princeton Invitational and the the Rutherford before ending the season at the BIG EAST Conference Championship at Callawassiee Island in South Carolina. The pace of the spring season is very fast, yet we are ready and look forward to every event."

The Hoyas are coming off a successful fall campaign, winning the 33rd Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate and posting three other top-6 finishes. Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) paces the Blue & Gray with a 72.33 stroke average while Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean), Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) all shot averages under 74. Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School), who has posted a pair of top-10 finishes this year, is hot on their trail with a 74.07 average.
