WASHINGTON - Hoya track & field All-American Chris Kinney ('11) will compete on Friday night at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. In January, Kinney was named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men's Bobsled Team as a push athlete in one of three U.S. sleds.
Kinney, and teammates Nick Cunningham (pilot), Hakeem Abdul-Saboor and Sam Michener, are scheduled to compete in the four-man bobsled on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The U.S. is one of three nations to qualify three sleds in both two-man and four-man bobsled. The race for the third quota spot in four-man came down to the final North American Cup competition in Lake Placid, New York, on Sunday. With three sleds, three drivers were named as well as nine push athletes.
Kinney is the first Winter Olympian in Georgetown University's history. Kinney made his first national team during 2016-17. Before taking up bobsled as a sport, Kinney ran track professionally in Japan.
