WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team returns to action this week as it travels out west for 12-team The Battle of Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nevada, right outside of Las Vegas. The two-day, three-round tournament will take place at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on the Coyote Run and Desert Hawk courses.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, starting with a shotgun start at 7:15 a.m. The final round will take place on Tuesday morning.
The Hoyas will be going against a strong field that includes Austin Peay, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Illinois-Chicago, James Madison, Monmouth, Montana State, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Oklahoma City and Radford.
Head Coach Kate Schanuel will send out a lineup consisting of seniors Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep), juniors Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]), Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) and Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's).
Additionally, sophomore Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) and freshman Yifei Bao (Houston, Texas) will play as individuals. It will be Bao's collegiate debut.
Georgetown is coming off of a ninth-place finish at the 43-team Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic last week to open the spring season. Eleey was GU's top finisher, carding a 3-over par 219 to place in a tie for 15th place. She earned BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honors on Thursday for the third time this year.
Following The Battle of Boulder Creek, the Hoyas will travel to South Carolina, March 19-20, for the Briar's Creek Invitational.
