WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program put up a number of strong performances at the UVA Challenge, a two-day meet in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Blue & Gray managed a quartet of times among the top 10 on the day.
Freshman Rey Rivera (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) ran his best 800-meter collegiate time as he clocked 1:48.04 to finish second. It is the fastest time recorded by a BIG EAST athlete thus far this outdoor season.
Nate Alleyne (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), another freshman, had success on the track as he ran a personal best (PB) 48.19 to finish fourth in the men's 400-meter dash.
Bryan Bjerk (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River/Minnesota) took seventh in the men's discus as he threw 158' 3".
On the women's side, Taylor Williams (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham/Clemson) clocked 12.18 in the women's 100-meter dash to finish eighth. The time puts her in the top 10 all-time at Georgetown.
The Hoyas will continue racing the remainder of the meet tomorrow, April 21, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
