Jake Carraway Named BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University sophomore Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Attack Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. In addition, freshman Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) was named to the weekly honor roll.

Carraway led the Hoyas (9-4) to a 15-6 victory over NJIT in GU's nonconference home finale on Saturday. He scored four goals to go with four assists for eight points while added a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover. Carraway also recorded his sixth game-winning goal of the year for the Blue & Gray. He has been named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week twice this season and selected to the weekly honor roll three times.

Smith earns his second honor roll nod of the season after recording five ground balls and a caused turnover against the Highlanders. The Georgetown defense allowed just one shot while shutting NJIT out in the first quarter and holding them scoreless for nearly 21 minutes to start the game. Smith was also named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week once this year.

Georgetown is ranked No. 17 in both major polls and closes out its 2018 regular season on the road at St. John's on Saturday, April 28 in BIG EAST action. The Hoyas have already clinched their first berth in the BIG EAST Championship since 2015 and are vying for seeding position against the Red Storm.
