With the win, the Hoyas won the series and improve to 17-24 overall and 4-5 in conference play, while the Bluejays fall to 25-13 on the season and 4-7 in BIG EAST action.

Nick Morreale (Lake Elmo, Minn./St. Thomas Academy/IMG Academy) allowed a run in 1.2 innings of relief, striking out two but walking four. Jimmy Swad (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) did not allow a run in 1.1 innings.

Ryan P. Davis (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) had three hits to lead the GU offense. He also had an RBI, scored a run and stole a base. Jake Bernstein (Frederick, Md./St. John's College HS) and Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) each had a hit and two RBIs.

Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) drew a walk and stole second base before Austin Shirley (Strafford, Pa./Conestoga) walked to put runners on first and second. Bernstein then launched a two-run triple off of the right field fence to score both runners. Davis followed with an infield single as Bernstein crossed the plate to give GU a 3-0 lead.

Burke, meanwhile was keeping the Creighton offense off balance. The Bluejays had a runner in scoring position in each of his six innings, but he worked out of the jam each time, getting 13 shallow fly ball outs on a day with the wind blowing straight in.

Georgetown broke the game open in the top of the eighth, batting around and scoring five times to extend the advantage to 8-0. Davis led off with an infield single and then stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. One out later, Alex Bernauer (Sunnyvale, Calif./Fremont) struck out but reached on a wild pitch as Davis crossed the plate. After a walk to Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla./San Ramon Valley [Calif.]), Ryan M. Davis (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) doubled to deep left to score a run. Stevens then pinch hit and blooped a two-run double over a draw-in infield. DeRenzi singled to put runners on the corners before pinch-runner James Gabor (Wyndmoor, Pa./William Penn Charter School) scored on a Shirley fielder's choice.

Creighton scored a run on four walks in the eighth to cut the lead to 8-1, but Swad recorded the final four outs to seal the win.

The Hoyas will return home for a six-game homestand. The Blue & Gray will host Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, May 1, before welcoming Villanova to Shirley Povich Field for a three-game BIG EAST series next weekend.
