WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program sent two men's distance runners to the Payton Jordan Invitational on Thursday night. The premier track & field meet is hosted by Stanford University at the Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford, California. All-American Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John's School) ran a personal best (PB) by more than 30 seconds in the men's 10,000-meter run.
Green clocked 28:36.44 in the stacked event featuring a number of post-collegiate athletes. Green improved upon his previous best, a mark of 29:06.52, a time he ran in 2015. His 16th-place time currently ranks ninth in the country and tops the BIG EAST Conference list. Green leads a trio of Hoyas among the top four on the league leaderboard.
In the second section of the men's 1,500-meter run, All-American Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day) ran his fastest time of the 2018 season as he timed in at 3:43.56 to finish third. His time is the second best in the BIG EAST.
The Hoyas will compete locally at the University of Maryland as the Terps host the Kehoe Twilight Meet on Friday, May 4 with events starting at 5 p.m. It will serve as the last meet before the 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 11-12 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
