WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program closed the regular season just up the road as the team traveled to nearby College Park, Maryland for the Kehoe Twilight Meet, hosted by the University of Maryland. The Hoyas battled through the unseasonably high temperatures and humidity to put up solid times in their last meet before the 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
A little more than one week after she last accomplished the feat, freshman Malika Houston (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington HS) again put up a personal best (PB) in the women's long jump. Her 5.69m was enough to win the event. It was one of a pair of wins as the freshman also took the crown in the 100-meter hurdles.
On the men's side, freshman Ruach Padhal (London, Ont./John Paul II Catholic) ran a collegiate-best 1:49.52 in the men's 800-meter run to win the event. His time ranks fourth in the BIG EAST Conference where three Hoyas have recorded three of the top four times.
Taylor Williams (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham/Clemson) managed a win in the women's 200-meter dash where the Hoyas went 1-2 with Jody-Ann Knight (Bentonville, Ark./Bentonville) finishing second.
Aleta Looker (Ellsworth, Maine/Ellsworth) also recorded a win as she clocked 4:29.08 to take first in the women's 1,500-meter run.
The Hoyas welcome the postseason portion of the season as they now await the 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 11-12, at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
