Farrell Selected to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University senior women's soccer forward Caitlin Farrell (Wallingford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) was one of 45 female student-athletes selected to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced Thursday by the United Soccer Coaches.
Earlier on Thursday, Farrell was also selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, the forward earned a spot on the First Team All-BIG EAST with eight goals and three assists for 19 points to rank third on the squad. This included four game winners. She was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Farrell was called up to the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team in May.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.

Georgetown was one of just four schools to have honorees on both the men's and women's lists.  Additionally, she was one of just two players from the BIG EAST Conference to named to the watch list.
The Blue & Gray, ranked No. 22 in the country in the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll, will kick off the 2018 season on August 17 at 5 p.m. to take on Georgia in Blacksburg, Virginia as part of the Virginia Tech Tournament.
