Georgetown University's men's golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter
has announced the 2019 spring schedule. The Hoyas will compete in five tournaments, including defending their BIG EAST Championship at the Callawassie Island Country Club in Callawassie, South Carolina.
"We have a very challenging spring schedule which should prepare us of our season ending Big East Championship," said Hunter."
Opening the spring slate in the Sunshine State, the Blue & Gray travels to Tampa, Florida to take part in the USF Invitational, hosted by South Florida, from March 11-12. The Hoyas then make a return trip to Florida at the FAU Spring Invitational in Boca Raton from March 29-31.
A pair of events in April sets the stage for GU's attempt at its third BIG EAST title in the past four years. Georgetown opens the month at the Princeton Invitational on April 6-7 before heading to Happy Valley at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State on April 13-14.
Georgetown wraps up the 2019 spring campaign at the BIG EAST Championships from April 26-28. The defending champion Hoyas recently claimed league titles in 2018 and 2016, as well as 2010 and 1998.
The Hoyas are coming off a successful fall campaign, finishing third at both the Wildcat Fall Invitational and the 34th Georgetown Intercollegiate. Eduardo Blochtein
(Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) paced the Blue & Gray with a 72.93 stroke average while both Patrick DiPasquale
(Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and Hardin Councill
(High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day) both shot averages under 75. Councill was also named the final BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week during the fall season.
