Indoor Track Teams Compete in Penn State National Open

University Park, PA ? The Georgetown University men?s and women?s track team competed in the Penn State National Open, held on Friday, January 25, and Saturday, January 26 at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. The Hoyas turned in several noteworthy performances in the two-day individual competition.

The men?s team was led by John Marquiss (Chambersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), and Robert Wingate-Robinson (Rainier, Md./ Northwestern). Marquiss took second place in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 47.84 and Wingate-Robinson took third in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 21.46. Wasim Greaves (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood Senior) took fourth place in the 600 Meter Run, clocking in at 1:15.44. Kyle Smits (Bellevue, Wash./ Newport) finished the 5000 Meter Run in 14:16.53 to earn fifth place and an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time. The Hoyas 4x400 relay team of Marquiss, Wingate-Robinson, Jeff Reinhardt (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro), and Ezra Richards (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Science Skills Center) took second place with a time of 3:10.43.

The Men?s Distance Medley Squad also took part in the Adidas Boston Indoor Games on January 27, where they earned fourth place with a time of 9:42.13.
