Women's Track Competes in First Day of ECAC Championship

The Georgetown women?s track and field team participated in their first day of competition at the 2002 ECAC Championships today, May 18. The ECAC?s are being held at William Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J. on the campus of Princeton University.

There were no finals during Saturday that involved Georgetown athletes. Starting off the day with top ten times for Georgetown were Erin Sicher (College Park, Md./Good Counsel) and Emily Enstice (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Visitation) in the 1500-meter trials. Sicher ran a 4:27.09. She was followed closely by Enstice?s 4:30.25. Monica Hargrove (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) donned the Blue and Gray for the 400-meter dash and ran a 55.97, advancing to Sunday?s heat. Jamillah Bowman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) ran the 400-meter hurdles and advanced to the finals with a 59.92 finish. Georgetown?s 4 x 800 foursome of Treniere Clement (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Monroe Falls), Heather Blackard (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita), Jill Laurendeau (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central) and Bowman combined for 8:53.67 to place them in tomorrows final. Closing out the participants who advanced to Sunday?s events was the Hoya 4 x 400-meter relay team. Hargrove, Kori Hamilton (Glendora, Calif./St. Lucy's Prior), Tyrona Heath (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) and Bowman finished the day with a 3:44.10, the fourth best time of the day.

Events tomorrow, May 19, begin at 11:00 a.m.
