WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The No. 6th ranked Georgetown University men?s cross country team placed 11th at the 96th IC4A/20th ECAC Championships hosted at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Saturday, November 20. The Hoyas finished with 246 points, while La Salle won the meet with 56 points. William and Mary took second place with 87 points, followed by Duquesne in third place with 109 points and Penn State in fourth with 132. James Madison rounded out the top five with 203 points.
Freshman Michael Banks (Fr., Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) was the top Hoya finisher, placing 21st with a time of 25:32, while fellow freshman Justin Scheid (Fr., Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) finished 41st with a time of 25:52. Senior Tommy Manning (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit) rounded out the top three finishers for the Hoyas with a time of 25:55. Charlie Millioen (Blue Point, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Tim Erikson (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) finished fourth and fifth for the Georgetown runners in 59th and 92nd place with times of 26:06 and 26:26 respectively.
The 29th ranked Georgetown University women's cross country team placed 5th overall with a score of 112. La Salle won the meet with 68 points, while Yale placed second with 70 points. Cornell finished in the third spot with 78 points and William and Mary came in at fourth with 90.
Erin Henry (Jr., Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) raced to a 9th place finish in 18:09 to finish as the top Hoya performer, while teammate Melissa Grelli ((Fr., Cupertino, Calif./Presentation) finished in 19th with a 18:25. Kelley Otstott (Fairfax Station, Va./Thomas Jefferson) was the third Hoya finisher with a time of 18:41. Sabine Knothe (Dortmund, Germany/Mallinckrodt Gymnasium) and Jodee Adams-Moore (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) rounded out the top five finishers for the Hoyas. Knothe finished 35th in 18:49 while Adams-Moore was only three seconds later finishing in 18:51.
The Hoyas finish their fall season at the NCAA Championships held at Indiana State on November 22.
