DURHAM, N.C. ? Georgetown?s track and field program competed at the Duke Invitational April 2-3 at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham.

Most athletes were entered in events outside their normal range, so the emphasis of the early meet was geared more toward training and preparation than obtaining qualifying times, yet the Hoyas still managed to put some solid individual performances on the board, and the team found tremendous success in the relays.

Georgetown won the men?s 4x400m relay in a BIG EAST-qualifying 3:12.06, and earned a decisive 10.82-second win over a 10-team field in the women?s 4x800m relay (9:05.26).

The women?s 4x400m also had a strong race, placing fifth in 3:47.48 to qualify for the BIG EAST Championships.

As one of few athletes racing in their specialty events, senior James Graham (Washington, D.C./Northwestern) turned in one of the top individual performances of the meet, with a NCAA Regional-qualifying mark of 51.59 in the 400m hurdles. Graham won his section, and was followed in a later section by middle-distance runner Nat Glackin (Red Bank, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), who ran a BIG EAST-qualifying time of 55.64.

Other BIG EAST qualifiers at the event included sophomore Sabine Knothe (Dortmund, Germany/Mallinckrodt Gymnasium) and junior Kelley Otstott (Fairfax Station, Va./Thomas Jefferson) in the women?s 1500m, and senior Jesse O?Connell (Westminster, Md./Westminster) in the men?s 1500m. Knothe was seventh in 4:31.34 and Otstott was 21st in 4:37.79, while O?Connell claimed second in his section and seventh overall with a time of 3:51.50 in the men?s event.

Sophomores Erin Henry (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) and Kim Malcolm (West Chester, Penn./Villa Maria Academy) earned BIG EAST marks in the 3000m steeplechase, and in doing so, were joined on the men?s side by senior Dan Tebbano (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and freshman Brian Dalpiaz (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville). Henry was sixth in 11:06.14 and Malcolm was seventh in 11:07.46, while Tebbano claimed fifth (9:14.97) and Dalpiaz placed seventh (9:21.26) on the men?s side.

In the field events, the Hoyas received strong performances from senior Teddy Presley (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) in the triple jump and junior Leilani Greene (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay) in the pole vault. Presley was 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 13.50, while Greene cleared 13.50m to place seventh in the pole vault.

Next up for the Hoyas is the Onesty Invitational at the University of Virginia on April 10 and the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee from April 9-10.
