STANFORD, CA - Senior distance runner Rod Koborsi shattered a 15-year old Georgetown outdoor track record at the 2005 Stanford Invitational, held Friday-Saturday, March 25-26, in Palo Alto, Calif. On the women's side, senior Nicole Lee turned in an terrific performance in the 10,000.
Koborsi clocked 28:35.86 in the 10,000-meters to claim sixth place and qualify automatically for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Koborsi's mark eclipses the former top performance in the event in the Hoya record books by former Olympian John Trautmann. Trautmann ran 28:49.91 at North Carolina State in 1990. Junior Josphat Boit of Arkansas won the 10,000 at Stanford with a new meet record time of 28:07.27.
Lee crossed the finish line in 16th place of the 10,000 with a mark of 33:55.42. The time also qualifies Lee automatically for the NCAAs. Kimberly Fitchen-Young, running unattached, won the women's 10,000 in 32:47.79.
