Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgetown outdoor track & field team continued action at the 2006 Penn Relays on Thursday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Sophomore Justin Scheid (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXII) set a personal best and qualified for the IC4A Outdoor Championship in the 5000m, running 14:31.66. Scheid was 27th overall and eighth in the second heat 66 in the men's 5000m Championship.
In the women's Championship of America distance medley relay, the Hoyas placed ninth with a time of 11:25.07. Villanova won the Championship at 10:57.03, followed closely by Stanford at 10:58.72.
Senior Erin Henry (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) and freshman Lise Ogrodnick (Quebec, Canada/Beaconsfield) took part in the women's steeplechase. Henry placed 23rd overall and 11th in the second heat at 3:50.69, while Ogrodnick was 27th overall and 17th in the first heat at 3:56.39.
Georgetown qualified for Saturday's 4x400m ECAC relay final with their finish in today's trial. The Hoyas ran 3:46.45 to finish sixth in their heat and 27th overall. Saturday's ECAC final is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
Action for the Hoyas tomorrow at Franklin Field begins at 11 a.m. with Mondie competing in the triple jump.
