Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgetown outdoor track & field team closed out competition at the 2006 Penn Relays on Saturday in front of 49,771 fans at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
A pair of women's relay teams posted fourth place finishes on the afternoon, highlighting the Hoyas action. In the women's 4x800m Championship of America relay, Georgetown ran an 8:38.45, placing fourth and winning a Penn Relay watch for being the top ECAC finisher. In addition, the time qualifies the Hoyas for the ECAC Outdoor Championships. Meanwhile, in the women's 4x400m ECAC relay, Georgetown, again fourth, finished in a time of 3:42.52.
The top men's finish was in the 4xMile Championship of America relay where the Hoyas placed fifth, crossing in a time of 16:26.35. Georgetown also was 11th in the 4x800m Championship of America relay, setting a season-best at 7:31.84.
The Hoyas return to action on Friday, May 5 for the start of the 2006 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Connecticut.
