Washington, D.C. - After a two-week break from competition, the Georgetown University cross country teams return to action on Saturday, September 30 for the first-annual Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge, hosted by William & Mary. The races will be held on the Dunbar Farms course at the Eastern State Hospital with the men beginning their 8k race at 9:30 a.m. and the women, running the 6k course, following at 10:15 a.m.

Joining the Hoyas in the field will be East Tennessee State, Fordham, George Washington, Hampton, LaSalle, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and William & Mary.

Georgetown moved up in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) polls, released early this week. With their early success in the season's first two races, the men moved up to 13th in the nation, while the women are 23rd.

In their last meet, the Hoya men tied for first and the women were second at the JMU Open on September 16. Junior Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) won the men's individual title, followed closely by sophomore Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy), making his Georgetown cross country debut. Junior Jennie Funk (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) was the top Hoya finisher in the women's race, crossing in third.

The week prior, Georgetown swept the titles, winning both the men's and women's team and individual crowns. Junior Justin Scheid (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXII) was the men's individual champion, while senior Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./The Academy of Holy Names) took the honor for the women.
