Washington, D.C. - The early season success continued for the Georgetown University cross country teams on Saturday at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge on the Dunbar Farms course at Eastern State Hospital. Senior Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./The Academy of Holy Names) won her second race of the young season, leading the Hoya women to the team crown. The Georgetown men were second, behind host William & Mary.
In the women's race, Georgetown totaled 43 points, pacing a field of eight schools. Virginia Tech was second with 55 and William & Mary was third with 73. Maloy finished first in the 6k race in a time of 21:34.3, more than 12 seconds faster than Natalie Sherbak of Virginia Tech. Junior Melissa Grelli (Cupertino, Calif./Presentation) was third at 21:54.3 and classmate Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) was eighth in 22:18.9 rounding out the Hoyas in the top-10. The other Georgetown scorers was fellow junior Jennie Funk (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) in 11th (22:32.7) and sophomore Kailin Collins (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) in 20th (23:06.4).
The Tribe took the men's team title with 30 points, followed by the Hoyas with 46 and LaSalle with 77. Christo Landry of William & Mary was the men's individual champion in a time of 23:51.4 over the 8k course. Sophomore Levi Miller (Belfast, Maine/Belfast Area) was the top Hoya finisher, placing third and running a time of 24:03.2. A pair of juniors - Justin Scheid (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXII) and Michael Banks (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) - finished in the top-10 for Georgetown, while a freshman duo - Owen Boyle (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) and Sandy Roberts (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) rounded out the scorers. Scheid (24:33.0) was fifth, Banks (24:56.5) was ninth, Boyle (25:05.1) was 13th and Roberts (25:09.8) was 16th.

Georgetown returns to the outdoors in two weeks for the Pre-Nationals on Saturday, October 14 in Terre Haute, Ind.
