Washington, D.C. - On the final day of competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Fayetteville, Ark. the Hoyas competed in two events. After the two-day competition, each student-athlete for the Hoyas brought home All-America honors and the men finished 17th in the nation with reshirt sophomore Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) and senior Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) garnering two apiece.
"I am very proud that we finished 17th in the nation on the men's side," Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Patrick Henner said. "Bumbalough demonstrated that he should now be considered as one of the best middle distance runners in the country. Liz Maloy once again showed she is the heart and soul of the women's team with her outstanding effort this weekend."
For the men, Bumbalough and Debole both competed in the 3000m and graduate student Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./Academy of Holy Names) ran in the mile.
Bumbalough ran a strong race and finished second in the 3000m with a time of 8:02.22. Debole took 10th place when he timed in at 8:07.35.
Maloy's mile time of 4:44.25 was enough to put her at seventh place in the event.
This concludes the indoor season. The outdoor season will start up on March 28-29 with the Raleigh Relays.
