TAMPA, Fla. - Senior Jeffrey Schnell (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and junior Adam Gross (Quogue, N.Y./Westhampton) got the Hoyas off to a quick start in doubles play, winning the No. 1 match, 8-2, but it would be the Hoyas last win of the afternoon, as they fell 4-0 to No. 7 St. John's in a BIG EAST Tournament consolation match.
Schnell and Gross defeated Artem Vlasenko and Gustafo Loza, 8-2 in the top doubles match, but the Red Storm would take the next two matches to capture the point. St. John's earned straight set victories in the second, fifth and sixth singles match to clinch the match.
Sophomore Anthony Tan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Anglo-Chinese Junior College) won the first set 6-4 and was leading the second match 5-4 before it was halted by St. John's victory. Schnell also led in the second set 5-2 before that match was halted.
