Washington, D.C. - As the sun shined on the blue track at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, four student-athletes wearing Georgetown's blue and gray prepared for the final day of competition for the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Championships, hosted by Drake University.
Junior Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) and senior Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) both competed in the men's 1500m run. Bumbalough stayed strong through the first 700 meters while DeBole stayed on the outside further back in the pack. Texas Leonel Manzano led for the entire race and was briefly challenged by Wisconsin and Stanford. With challengers on the outside and the front getting crowded, Bumbalough was boxed into the pack as the field made their move on the outside. Bumalough finished 12th with a time of 3:44.96 while DeBole clocked in at 3:46.25 for 16th place.
Junior Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) and graduate student Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./Academy of Holy Names) competed in the women's 1500m run. Maloy finished 13th overall with a 4:22.66 while Infeld took 15th with a time of 4:27.57.
