Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's and women's track & field teams have announced their incoming classes for the upcoming season. The men's Class of 2012 consists of eight student-athletes while the women's team will add 11 student-athletes.
"We are excited to add such a high-caliber group of student-athletes to the Georgetown family," Director of Track & Field / Cross Country Pat Henner said. "I have the utmost confidence that the eight men and eleven women will help us continue to succeed in the BIG EAST and on a national level."
The incoming class will be made of 16 freshmen and three transfers, coming from 10 different states and two foreign countries. Two of the incoming freshmen won national titles in 2008: Emily Infeld took first in the mile at the 2008 Nike Outdoor National Championship and Katie McCafferty won the 2-mile event at the 2008 Nike Indoor National Championship while Mark Dennin was a Penn Relay Champion in the 3,000m.
Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Newcomers
Odosa Aghayere (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) was third indoors and ninth outdoors in the triple jump at the New York State Championships. He has personal bests of TJ (47-2.75), and LJ (19-3.50).
Kamryn Austin (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) was first in the indoor 55m hurdles and fourth in the outdoor 110m hurdles at the New Jersey Meet of Champions. He has personal bests of 7.40 in the 55m hurdles and 14.11 in the 100m hurdles.
Liam Boylan-Pett (Bath, Mich./Columbia) is attending graduate school at Georgetown University. Boylan-Pett was the anchor of the victorious 4x800 Penn Relays team with Columbia in 2007, a three-time Ivy League Champion, and an NCAA qualifier in the 800m. He has personal bests of 1:48.28 in the 800m and 3:42.91 in the 1500m.
Mark Dennin (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertowns) was 13th at the 2007 Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships, Penn Relays 3,000m champion, Pennsylvania State Cross Country, and two mile champion. Dennin has personal bests of 8:30.11 in the 3,000m and 9:03.63 in the two mile.
Brian Manning (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) was fourth at the Oregon 6A State Cross Country Championships, and third in the 3000m at the state track championships. He is following his brother's footsteps, Tommy Manning, who was a two-time All-American at Georgetown. Brian has personal bests of 15:51 in the 5K in cross country, 8:42.2 in the 3000m and 3:58.4 in the 1500m.
Theon O'Connor (Kingston, Jamaica) was a member of the Jamaican team for the World Youth Championships in 2005 in the 800m, and had the second fastest 800m split at the Penn Relays 4x800m high school championships this past year. O'Connor has personal bests of 1:50.44 in the 800m, and multiple 47-second 400 meter splits under his belt.
Biyerem Okengwu (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway Township) was third in the 110m hurdles at the New Jersey Meet of Champions. He has personal bests of 8.43 in the 60m hurdles, 14.07 in the 110m hurdles, 22.4 in the 200m, and 50.00 in the 400m.
Austin Perron (Philadelphia, Pa./High School of Engineering and Science) was the Pennsylvania State Indoor 400m champion, a member of two-time Pennsylvania State 4x800 champion team, and a member of the 2007 AAU Junior Olympic 4x400, and 4x800 national champions. He has personal bests of 22.5 in the 200m and 48.03 in the 400m.
Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Newcomers
Adannia Aganekwu (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) is a developing talent in the heptathlon. She has competed in the 300m hurdles as well as the long jump, shot put, 200m and 400m.
Carmen Ballard (Kelowna, British Columbia/Columbia) is entering graduate school at Georgetown University and finishing up her final year of eligibility. She was an NCAA Cross Country All-American (23rd) at Columbia, and a two-time regional finalist in the 1500m. She has personal bests of 4:24.01 in the 1500m and 16:45.62 in the 5000m.
Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) was the Missouri State Champion in the 800m and 1600m both her junior and senior years. She has personal bests of 56.8 (split) in the 400m, 2:09.1 in the 800m and 4:54.1 in the 1600m.
London Finley (Los Angeles, Calif./St. Mary's Academy) was one of the top 300m and 400m hurdlers in the country. She was second at the California State Championships as a junior, and a Southern Section Division record holder in the 300m hurdles. London has personal bests of 14.07 in the 100m hurdles, 41.97 in the 300m hurdles, and 59.64 in the 400m hurdles.
Chela Green (Nashville, Tenn./Ensworth) was third in the 400m, sixth in the 100m and seventh in the 200m at the Tennessee (TSSAA) State Track Championships. She has personal bests of 55.76 in the 400m and 25.03 in the 200m.
Emily Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) was the 2008 Nike Outdoor National Champion in the mile, Ohio State Division 1 Champion in the 800m, 1600m and cross country, and a two-time Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship finalist. The sister of current Hoya and All-American Maggie Infeld, Emily has personal records of 2:08.16 in the 800m, 4:43.31 in the mile and 10:31.26 in the two mile.
Jilian King (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) was one of the top high school milers in the country during the 2008 indoor season before missing the outdoor season with an injury. She ran in the prestigious Millrose High School mile during her 2008 indoor campaign. She has personal bests of 4:53.84 in the mile and 9:50.15 in the 3,000m.
Katie McCafferty (Convent Station, N.J./Oak Knoll) was the 2008 Nike Indoor National Champion in the two mile, Penn Relays 3000m champion, and Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship finalist. She has personal bests of 9:37.15 in the 3,000m and 10:17.28 in the two mile.
Kelly McEldrew (Philadelphia, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) was a member of the Pennsylvania State Championship 4x800 relay team. She has a personal best of 2:13.16 in the 800m.
Erika Moses (Redlands, Calif./Columbia) is entering graduate school at Georgetown University and finishing her final year of eligibility. Moses was a two-time NCAA East Regional qualifier in the 400m at Howard, and Ivy League runner-up. She has personal bests of 24.40 in the 200m, 53.53 in the 400m and 2:11.18 in the 800m.
Autumn Touchstone (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) finished in sixth place at the AAU Junior Olympics Heptathlon, and was among the top five in the state of Michigan in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. She has personal bests of 43.7 in the 300m hurdles, 14.8 in the 100m hurdles, 26.31 in the 200m and 16' 10 in the long jump.
