WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's track & field team took eighth place with 51 points at the ECAC Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass. The Hoya women recorded one NCAA Provisional qualifying time en route to the eighth-place team performance.
In the 3000m freshman Katie McCafferty (Convent Station, N.J./Oak Knoll) was the first to represent the Blue & Gray with a time of 9:29.78, an NCAA Provisional mark, and good enough for third place. Also picking up points for the Hoyas in the 3000m, senior Natasha LaBeaud (Folsom, Calif./Folsom) finished seventh (9:40.13).
Junior Abigail Johnson (Willingboro, N.J./Milton Hershey [Pa.]) placed second in the final round of the 400m with a time of 54.61. Picking up more points for the Hoyas, senior Avril Ogrodnick (Beaconsfield, Quebec/Beaconsfield) clocked in at 4:51.81 in the mile to take fourth place.
Freshman Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) timed in at 2:51.84 in the 1000m to place fifth. Junior Sarah Wernik (Florence, Mass./Northampton) was a seventh-place finisher with a time of 24.82 in the 200m.
The women conclude the indoor season with the NCAA Championships next weekend, held in College Station, Texas.
