Princeton, N.J. - On the first day of the IC4A/ECAC Championships, the Georgetown University Track & Field squad had a successful meet with five different runners competing. Dan Nunn (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) was Georgetown's top finisher placing fifth in the 5,000 meters running an NCAA qualifying time. The Hoyas will continue to have entries throughout the three-day event.
In the men's 5,000 meters, Nunn led the way for the Hoyas finishing fifth in a time of 14:06.07. Justin Scheid ((Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXII) also placed in the top 20 taking 14th clocking in at 14:16.12. Rounding out the Georgetown entrants in the event was T.C. Lumbar (Edina, Minn./Edina) who came in at 15:01.04.
In the women's 5,000 meters, Kelsey Malmquist (Williston Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) placed 12th with a time of 17:14.81. Just two spots behind her was teammate Laura Gallo (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) who crossed the finish line at 17:17.42 for her best time of the season.
Georgetown will have two busy days ahead with a number of entries on Saturday and Sunday.
