Hoyas Conclude Weekend at IC4A/ECAC Championships

Princeton, N.J. - On the final day of the IC4A/ECAC Championships held at Princeton University, the Georgetown University men's track & field squad managed to bring home titles in both the 800 meters and the 110 meter hurdles. Additionally, the women's team competed in four finals and finished second in the 4x800 relay. Overall the men were sixth out of 52 teams in the IC4A Championship with 35 points, while the women were 17th of 59 squads in the ECAC Championship with 17 points to their credit.

For the men, Chris Kinney (Stockbridge, Ga./Stockbridge) led the way winning the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 13.96, this was better than his qualifying time of 14.06. In the same race, Biyerem Okengwu (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway Township) placed sixth running a season-best 14.42.

Liam Boylan-Pett (Bath, Mich./Columbia) also won the 800 meters after finishing fourth in the qualifying race, he ran a 1:50.26 for the title. Also running the 800 meters was Alex Bean (Somers, N.Y./Somers) who was seventh with a 1:52.41.

In the 200 meters, Sean Suber (Mitchellville, Md./DeMatha) took sixth in the final clocking in at 22.02. Finally, the 4x400 relay team of Danny Harris (Deer Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), Toby Ulm (Marlborough, U.K./St. John's School & Community College), Austin Perron (Philadelphia, Pa./High School of Engineering and Science) and John Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) also placed sixth in a time of 3:13.14 which was a few tenths of a second faster than Saturday's qualifying time.

On the women's side, the 4x800 relay team of Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), Lauren Gregory (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls), Kelsey Malmquist (Williston Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and Carmen Ballard (Kelowna, British Columbia/Columbia) had the top performance of the day taking second beating yesterday's time with a 8:51.54.

Katie McCafferty (Convent Station, N.J./Oak Knoll) ran a season best in the 1,500 meters with a 4:27.72. She was joined by Borduin who took eighth running a 4:30.04.

In the 100 hurdles, London Finley (Los Angeles, Calif./St. Mary's Academy) was sixth clocking in at 14.33 and Sarah Wernick (Florence, Mass./Northampton) crossed the finish line at 24.75 in the 200 meters to place eighth.

The Hoyas will have next weekend off but return to the track later in the week for the NCAA East Regional Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
