WASHINGTON - Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy), Mark Dennin (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyerstown) and Natasha LaBeaud (Folsom, Calif./Folsom) have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Cross Country Team. In order to be nominated for a Cross Country All-Academic Award, athletes must have at least a 3.25 GPA and either be a USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country All-American or have been a top-fifteen finisher at an NCAA Division I Cross Country Regional meet.
Bumbalough, a graduate student at Georgetown completing his master's degree in sports industry management, is a six-time All American, including three such consecutive awards in cross country (2007, 2008, 2009). He ranks second all-time at Georgetown University in the mile (3:58.46) and is third all-time in the 3,000-meter indoor (7:53.63). Bumbalough, the reigning two-time Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Athlete of the Year, became the first Hoya to win back-to-back individual Mid-Atlantic Regional titles in November and finished in a personal-best eighth place in the 10,000-meter race at the NCAA Cross Country Championships that same month.
Dennin is a sophomore undergraduate and has not yet declared a major. He also runs the two-mile and 3,000-meter races for the Hoyas in track & field. In the fall, Dennin set a course record at the 7,900-meter New Market Battlefield and was honored as BIG EAST Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the performance. In high school, Dennin was the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Champion and a 3,000-meter champion at the Penn Relays.
LeBeaud, also a graduate student at Georgetown working toward her professional studies degree, was the only Georgetown woman named to the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team. LeBeaud also runs the 3,000-meter, 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter events for the Georgetown track & field team. She finished 24th with a time of 24:11 at the 2009 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and 78th overall at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
