WASHINGTON - Kenny Mitchell's standout performance at the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday, April 10, has earned him the honor of BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week. In both the 100- and the 200-meter dash, Mitchell ran the fastest times in the BIG EAST thus far this season.
In the 100-meter dash, Mitchell broke his own school record by running the event in 10.39, a time that earned him second place at the meet. In addition to topping all other BIG EAST performances this season, Mitchell's time places him at 21st among NCAA competitors this season.
With a time of 20.98 in the 200-meter dash, Mitchell earned fifth place at the meet and is now tied for 26th in the NCAA this season. So far, this is Mitchell's fastest of the 2010 track & field season.
The Hoyas will split sites during the upcoming weekend between the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
