WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program competed in the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 10 in Swarthmore, Pa.
Three Hoyas finished in the top-15 in the men's 1,500-meter run led by senior Alex Bean (Somers, N.Y./Somers), who came across the line with a time of 3:43.98 to place fifth. Freshman Dylan Sorenson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) finished ninth in 3:47.28, while senior Dan Leyh (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) came in 13th with a time of 3:48.55.
Sophomore Lauren Borduin (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), graduate student Avril Ogrodnick (Beaconsfield, Que./Beaconsfield) and junior T.C. Lumbar (Edina, Minn./Edina) also finished in the top-10 for Georgetown in their events. Borduin came in fifth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.67. Ogondrick finished the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:31.22, good enough for 10th. Lumbar came in eighth in the men's 5,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 14:39.26.
Seniors Danny Harris (Deer Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) and Marcie Sobrinski (Treichlers, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) rounded out Georgetown's competitors at the meet. Harris came in 26th in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.37 while Sobrinski finished 22nd in the women's 1,500-meter run, coming across the line in 4:36.44.
The Hoyas will next compete at the IC4A / ECAC Championships this weekend in Princeton, N.J. The men finished sixth overall last year while the women placed 17th. The men's squad managed to bring home titles in both the 800 meters and the 110 meter hurdles at the 2009 event, with former Hoya and All-American Liam Boylan-Pett taking home the 800m title in 1:50.26 while junior Chris Kinney (Stockbridge, Ga./Stockbridge) won the hurdles with a time of 13.96.
