Football Hosts Lafayette Saturday on the Hilltop

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team looks for its first Patriot League win of the season as the team hosts Lafayette in its second-straight game at Cooper Field on Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon.
 
HOW TO FOLLOW
  • Saturday's game is the Patriot League Game of the Week and will be broadcast on Stadium's over-the-air (OTA) channels as well as the Patriot League Network.
  • Matt Martucci will be calling the play-by-play with Dave Owens providing analysis. Morgan Uber will be reporting from the sidelines.

ABOUT GEORGETOWN
  • Georgetown enters Saturday's contest with a 4-2 overall record and an 0-1 mark in Patriot League play.
  • The Hoyas lead the Patriot League and rank fourth in the country in both total defense (276.7 ypg) and scoring de-fense (13.0 ppg), while the offense is also atop the conference in scoring (32.8 ppg).
  • Herman Moultrie III leads the GU rushing attack with 346 yards and seven touchdowns the most by a Hoya since 2012.
  • Joshua Tomas leads the receiving corps with 26 catches for 431 yards while Michael Dereus has three receiving touchdowns.
  • Justin Fonteneaux leads the defense with 43 tackles and has reached double figures in each of the last two games.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Hoyas put up more than 500 yards of offense, but lost a heartbreaker last Saturday, 30-27, as Fordham scored the game-winning touchdown with 16 seconds left.
  • Gunther Johnson finished 13-for-17 passing for a season-high 280 yards while also rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Moultrie scored two rushing touchdowns on 17 carries.
  • Dereus caught four passes for 149 yards, including an 81-yard catch on the first play from scrimmage.
  • Tomas accounted for 170 all-purpose yards with 39 rushing yards and 131 receiving yards on seven catches.
  • Fonteneaux led the defense with a career-high 13 tackles while also recording a forced fumble and his second interception of the season, earning Patriot League Honorable Mention honors for the second-consecutive week.
  • Dereus and Tomas combined to be the first Hoya receiving duo to each have 100 receiving yards since 2013.
  • Georgetown's 525 yards of offense was the most ever by the program against a Patriot League opponent.
 
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
  • Lafayette enters Saturday's contest with an 0-7 overall record. This will be the Leopards' first conference game.
  • The offense is third in the Patriot League, averaging 18.7 ppg, while the defense ranks fifth, allowing 33.7 ppg.
  • Keegan Shoemaker has passed for 1,420 yards and eight touchdowns while also throwing seven interceptions.
  • John Gay has rushed for a team-high 200 yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Pearson leads the squad with 24 catches for 430 yards.
  • Major Jordan leads the Lafayette defense with 47 total tackles, while Ryan Dickens is right behind him with 41.
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Lafayette are meeting for the 23rd time, with the Leopards holding a 14-8 series advantage.
  • In last year's matchup, the Hoyas held Lafayette without a touchdown in a 13-6 win on the road.
  • Johnson rushed for a pair of touchdowns to provide the offense.
  • The GU defense held the Leopards to just 33 rushing yards and forced three turnovers.
