Women’s Golf Closes Fall Schedule at Lady Blue Hen Invitational

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team closes out the fall portion of its schedule this weekend when it travels to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware. The two-day, three-round tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,126-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club. A link for live scoring will be available at GUHoyas.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Hoyas placed 13th at the Yale Invitational after carding rounds of 312, 304 and 307.
  • Freshman Lauren May and senior Ashley Fitzgibbons tied for high honors for the Hoyas with identical scores of 13-over par 226 to tie for 34th place overall.
 
HOYA LINEUP
  • Georgetown will bring six student-athletes to Rehoboth Beach with three freshmen and two seniors making up the lineup with an additional freshman playing as an individual.
  • Fitzgibbons is coming off her best finish of the fall at Yale, including a season-best round of 72 in the second round. She is currently second on the squad with a 77.73 stroke average.
  • May has been GU's top finisher in three of the four tournaments this year, and has a team-high 75.91 stroke average.
  • Freshman Esther Park was Georgetown's top finisher at the Nittany Lion Invitational and is third with a 78.36 stroke average.
  • Senior Kate Evanko owns a 79.00 stroke average and turned in a 76 in the final round at Yale to tie her season best.
  • Freshman Dana Choi ranks fourth on the squad with a 78.64 stroke average.
  • Freshman Elena Zheng will be playing as an individual this weekend. She made her collegiate debut at Yale and carded a 242, including an even par 72 in the second round.
 
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
  • The Hoyas will be a part of a 12-team field that includes Albany, Dartmouth, Delaware, Delaware State, Harvard, Navy, Oklahoma City University, Penn, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Towson.
  • Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday in a shotgun start and playing 36 holes. Sunday's final round will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
  • Georgetown finished third at last year's Lady Blue Hen Invitational, posting a 47-over par 899 that included a season-best 291 in the first round and a 297 in the second.
