WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team closed out its fall schedule with a strong third-place showing at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware. The Hoyas turned in consecutive sub-300 (298, 292) scores on Saturday before carding a 309 on Sunday to finish with a 35-over par 899 at the par-72, 6,126-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
HOYA LINEUP
- Senior Ashley Fitzgibbons tied for sixth overall, Georgetown's first top-10 finish this year, with a 6-over par 222. She posted a 1-over par in Saturday's first round, before carding in a season-best 1-under par 71 in the second round.
- Senior Kate Evanko had her best career finish as she tied for 16th overall at 10-over par 226. She turned in a season-best round of 74 in Saturday's second round, sandwiched between scores of 76.
- Freshman Lauren May was one stroke behind Evanko at 11-over par, tying for 19th overall.
- Freshmen Esther Park (14-over par 230) and Dana Choi (15-over par 231) were one shot apart, finishing in ties for 27th and 29th, respectively.
- Freshman Elena Zheng, playing as an individual, tied for 43rd at 21-over par 237.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Pennsylvania won the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, finishing at an even-par 864 over the 54-hole tournament. Seton Hall was second at 29-over par 892, six shots ahead of the Hoyas.
- GU passed Rutgers in the third round and finished one stroke ahead of the Scarlet Knights (900), while the host Blue Hens (914) rounded out the top five.
