Georgetown Announces Spring Schedule

WASHINGTON – Head Coach Kate Schanuel and the Georgetown University women's golf team have announced the spring schedule for the second half of the 2018-19 campaign. The Hoyas will compete in four tournaments, before heading down to Callawassie, South Carolina for the 2020 BIG EAST Championships.
 
"We are very pleased about this spring's schedule," Schanuel said. "It is a very tough slate of tournaments, against some very good competition, that will help us prepare for the BIG EAST Championship at the end of April."
 
UNF COLLEGIATE; March 9-10
  • The Hoyas will open the spring season in the Sunshine State with 36 holes on Monday, March 9, and the final 18 being played the following day.
  • The Tournament will be played at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida.
 
BRIAR'S CREEK INVITATIONAL; March 16-17
  • Georgetown will return to the Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston for the third-straight season.
  • The two-day tournament will be held at Briar's Creek Golf Club in Johns Island, South Carolina.
  • At last year's event, Baili Park finished at 18-over par 234 to tie for 74th, while Ashley Fitzgibbons carded a 29-over par 245.
 
PINEHURST WOMEN'S INTERCOLLEGIATE; March 30-31
  • The Hoyas will make their first trip to the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate, held at the historic golf course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
  • The tournament will be played on the No. 6 course at Pinehurst, designed by Tom and George Fazio.
 
BRYAN NATIONAL COLLEGIATE; April 5-7
  • The Blue & Gray will be making its fourth-straight appearance at the Bryan National Collegiate, hosted by Wake Forest.
  • The tournament will be played at the Bryan Park Champions Course in Browns Summit, North Carolina.
  • Park finished a 21-over par 237 to tie for 79th last spring, while Kate Evanko turned in a three-round score of 24-over par 240.
 
BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP; April 24-26
  • The 2020 BIG EAST Championships will return to the Callawassie Island Clubhouse in Callawassie, South Carolina.
  • The Hoyas finished second last season after winning the program's first ever championships in 2017 and 2018.
  • Fitzgibbons has recorded a top-10 finish at her first three BIG EAST Championships, as she carded a 13-over par 229 to place seventh last spring.
  • Elizabeth Nguyen finished at 18-over par 234, tying for 13th.
 
The Hoyas are coming off a strong finish to the fall schedule when the Blue & Gray turned in a third-place showing at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware. Georgetown turned in consecutive sub-300 (298, 292) scores on Saturday before carding a 309 on Sunday to finish with a 35-over par 899 at the par-72, 6,126-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
