WORCESTER, Mass. – The Georgetown University football team dropped the final game of the 2019 season, falling to Holy Cross 24-0 on Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League game at Fitton Field. With the loss, the Hoyas end the season at 5-6 overall and 1-5 in league play. The Crusaders moved to 7-5 on the year and 5-1 in conference action, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a first half dominated by defense, Holy Cross broke the scoreless tie on a 15-yard touchdown run with 2:08 left in the second quarter.
- A 56-yard interception return extended the Crusaders' lead to 14-0 with just 22 seconds left before halftime.
- Georgetown's defense came up with a huge goal line stand in the third quarter, stopping four plays inside the 2-yard line to force a turnover on downs.
- Following a turnover early in the fourth quarter, the defense again came up with a red zone stop, keeping Holy Cross to a 21-yard field goal to make it 17-0.
- The Crusaders capped the scoring with a 20-yard scoring run with just 3:55 left to play.

The Hoyas graduate16 seniors from the 2019 squad, but return 61 percent of the team's scoring and 86 percent of the tackles in 2020.
