Hoyas Finish Day Two at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON – Following the second day of the Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University, the Georgetown University swimming & diving team sees its men's squad sitting in second place, while the women's team is in third. The six-team, three-day meet is taking place at BU's Competition Pool.
 
The men's team has accumulated 676.5 points to sit behind only Boston College (867) while holding a lead over both UMass (513) and the host Terriers (479.5). The GU women have 519 points to trail both BC (765) and Northeastern (534). The Hoyas are ahead of BU (437), UMass (343) and New Hampshire (166).
 
WOMEN ON FRIDAY  
WOMEN ON SATURDAY
  • Robertson led a trio of Hoyas in the "A" final of the 400-yard IM, finishing fifth. Slaughter and Evangelista took seventh and eighth, respectively.
  • Lauren Henasey placed fourth and Gabriella Meringolo sixth in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • In the 200-yard freestyle, Donohoe took fourth.
  • Samantha Kim placed fifth and Megan Smith touched the wall eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
  • Grace Chen raced to a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and Alexandra Rieker was just behind her in fifth.
  • Fujioka won her second diving event in the 1-meter while Margaret Barnhorst finished second.
 
MEN ON FRIDAY
  • Michael Wheeler edged out his BU opponent in the 500-yard freestyle to win by a .90 margin while Brett Sherman finished fourth.
  • Drew Carbone won a tight race in the 200-yard IM, winning by just a .11 margin. Connor Morikawa (3rd) and Michael Baldini (6th), also earned points in the "A" final.
  • Sean Devlin was out-touched by just .29 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle as he finished second.
  • Joseph Hofman placed second in the 1-meter dive with Matthew Werner and Griffin Edmonds right behind him in third and fourth, respectively.
  • The quartet of Carbone, Morikawa, Baldini and Devlin came away with a very strong victory in the 400-yard medley relay, winning by just .43 seconds.
 
MEN ON SATURDAY
  • Sherman cruised to a victory in the 400-yard IM, while Morikawa and Wheeler finished third and fourth, respectively.
  • Carbone finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Matthew Braviak and Sean Percin took the top two spots in the "B" final of the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Morikawa was just out-touched by .25 seconds in the 100-yard to finish second, while Matthew Szilagyi tied for fifth and Nathaniel Goldfarb took seventh.
  • Carbone won the 100-yard backstroke and Jack Calderwood was sixth.
  • The trio of Hofman, Edmonds and Werner finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 3-meter dive.
  • The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Sherman, Wheeler, Braviak and Carbone finished with the top time by more than a full second.
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will wrap up competition at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday. The morning preliminaries will start at 10 a.m., with the evening finals beginning at 5 p.m. The finals will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network and a link is available at GUHoyas.com.
