WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving team split a dual meet against BIG EAST rival Villanova on Saturday afternoon. The Hoya men came away with a 175-125 victory, while the women's squad fell 210-95. The meet took place at the Villanova Swim Complex.
GEORGETOWN MEN
- The Hoyas got off to a strong start with a win in the 200-yard medley relay and closed the meet by taking the top two spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
- Brett Sherman led the Blue & Gray with three individual victories as he touched the wall first in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races as well as the 400-yard IM.
- Drew Carbone and Connor Morikawa each came away with two wins apiece as Carbone swept both backstroke events and Morikawa claimed both breaststroke races.
- Michael Wheeler cruised to a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
HOYA WOMEN
- Georgetown overcame some adversity midway through the meet to come away with one of their most productive meets against the Wildcats in recent years.
- Grace Chen won a tight race in the 100-yard backstroke.
- Belinda Donohoe just outstretched her Villanova opponent to win the 50-yard freestyle.
- Riley Fujioka claimed victory in the 3-meter dive with a score of 260.70
