WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team dropped a pair of games losses against the St. John's softball team on Saturday in a doubleheader against the Red Storm. The Blue & Gray fell 12-4 in game one and 10-2 in the second game. With the losses, the Hoyas fall to 9-24 overall and 2-3 in the league while the Johnnies advance to 15-15 and 4-1 in the BIG EAST.
 
Junior 
Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del. / Red Lion Christian Academy) and freshman 
Kiki Besnard (Irvine, Calif. / Northwood) led the Blue & Gray with a pair of hits on the day. Holiday landed her sixth home run of the season and brought in a pair of RBIs. Senior 
Sarah Bennett (Owings, Md. / Northern) also recorded a homer, her seventh, and sophomore 
Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif. / Terra Linda) tallied her first home run this year.
 
Junior 
Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas / St. John's School) took the nod in the circle in game one. Pacha threw 4.0 innings and allowed nine runs off of five hits and struck out three as well as walked four. Junior 
Katie Vannicola (Vienna, Va. / James Madison HS) relieved Pacha for the last 1.1 innings and allowed three more runs off of six hits.
 
The Hoyas opened up the scoring with a 3-0 advantage in the top of the third when Holiday and Bennett hit back-to-back homers, including a two-run homer from Holiday. The Johnnies responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs to tie it up. Eventually the Red Storm took a 9-3 lead in the fourth inning off of a pair of doubles and scored another pair of runs off of two more homers to lead 10-4.
 
The Red Storm landed two more singles and scored two more runs to seal a 12-4 win in the first game.
 
In game two, sophomore 
London Diller (Sugar Land, Texas / George Ranch) threw the first 4.0 innings and gave up six runs off of six hits. Freshman 
Cassie Henning (Atlanta, Ga. / Wesleyan) allowed another pair of runs in one inning of work until junior 
Casey Kozak (Marlton, N.J. / Bishop Eustace) finished out the game and allowed two more runs.
 
St. John's got the scoring started in the bottom of the second off of an error and scored one more run in the next inning off of a home run. In the top of the fourth, Besnard singled to center field and sophomore 
Deirdre Gallo (Shrewsbury, Mass. / St. Peter Marian) scored the first run for GU. Up next, senior 
Kelly Amen (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) hit another single to left field and scored Bennett from third to tie it up at 2-2.
 
The tie didn't last long since the Johnnies scored eight more runs in the next three innings. Georgetown could not get the bats going offensively and dropped the 10-2 decision to SJU in the second game.
 
Up next, the Blue & Gray will play a single game against St. John's on Sunday at noon. The game will be broadcast live on BIG EAST Digital Network with Sean Saint Jacques calling the action. Live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
