WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's lightweight crew team opened its spring season on the Potomac River on Saturday morning in the third consecutive Class of 2004 Cup against Harvard-Radcliffe. Despite three Hoya victories on the day, the Black and White reclaimed the Class of 2004 Cup with a 3.1 second victory over GU in the varsity eight race.
GU started the day strong as the varsity four boat overtook Radcliffe by 4.8 seconds and crossed the finish line with a time of 7:14.13. The JV four squad outpaced the opposition by 8.1 seconds to give GU its second victory of the day and the varsity double boat manned by
Carly Glickenhaus and
Hannah Weingartner defeated the Black and White by 14.5 seconds, the largest margin on the day.
With the cup on the line, Radcliffe edged Georgetown in the varsity eight event, crossing the finish line with a time of 6:17.5 over GU's 6:20.6 pace.
The Hoyas will travel to San Diego to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday, April 6.
