WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Lynn University on Monday afternoon in Boca Raton, Florida. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 3-7 while the Fighting Knights improve to 7-1.
In doubles, Lynn made quick work of the Hoyas and picked up the first team point with three straight wins.
In singles,
Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) tallied the first point for the Hoyas by defeating Florian Clemares in a come-from-behind win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3. At No. 1
Rohan Kamdar (Singapore / Anglo Chinese School) played No. 43 ranked opponent Kay Bartmann to three sets but lost 6-4, 4-6, 4-6.
At No. 4,
Andrew Rozanov (London, England / Westminster) closed the margin to 3-2 after defeating No. 38 ranked Jose Porfirio in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. With the win, Rozanov improves to 6-5 in the 2019 campaign.
Despite the late effort by the Hoyas, the Fighting Knights clinched the match at No. 6 as Gabriel Hocevar defeated
Mark Militzer (Charleston, S.C. / Connections Academy) 7-5, 6-3.
With the contest decided,
Charlie Sharton (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) played out his match at No. 5 and was defeated by his opponent 6(6)-7, 6-4, 5-10 to give the Fighting Knights their final point.
GU returns to the court for its final match in the Sunshine State on Tuesday, March 5 against the University of Texas, Arlington. The match is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. and will be played at junior
