WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University men's tennis team played its final match of the 2019 season on Friday morning as the #6-seeded Hoyas fell to #3-seeded Marquette 4-1 in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals.
The Golden Eagles got out to an early start as they won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles against
Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) and
Charlie Sharton (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) and defeated
Connor Lee (San Marino, Calif. / San Marino) and partner
Rohan Kamdar (Singapore / Anglo Chinese School) 6-4 at No. 1.
In singles,
Luke Ross (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) tallied the lone Hoya point of the day with a 6-2, 7-6(3) win over Fran San Andres at No. 6. Chen and Sharton both battled their opponents to three sets each but Marquette held strong and clinched the match at No. 2 to advance to the BIG EAST Semifinals.
