Women’s Golf Releases 2019 Fall Schedule

8/15/2019 12:04:00 PM

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Women's Golf Coach Kate Schanuel has announced the fall schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. The Hoyas will play in five tournaments this fall, including returning to four courses at which they competed last season.

"We are really excited about our fall schedule," Schanuel said. "We start off immediately with a very strong field at Yeamans Hall, followed up with four more competitive events at great golf courses including Yale, the number one collegiate course in the country."

The Blue & Gray will kick things off on September 8 at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. The three-day event will be held at the Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, South Carolina. The Hoyas finished 18th in last year's weather-shortened tournament.

Mirroring last year's schedule, the Hoyas will fallow the Cougar Classic by traveling to University Park, Pennsylvania for the Nittany Lion Invitational, September 21-22, hosted by Penn State. Georgetown finished eighth at the same tournament last year and senior Kate Evanko (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville) fired a career-best 74 in the first round.

The following week will require another trip up north for the Hoyas, as they head to Princeton, New Jersey looking to turn in another strong outing at the Princeton Invitational, September 28-29. Georgetown left Springdale Country Club last fall setting a program record for a 36-hole with a 20-over par 596 along with a second-place finish. The Hoyas won the tournament in 2017.

On October 4, the Hoyas will return to The Course at Yale for the first time since 2015. The three-day tournament hosted by Yale will be held October 4-6 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Blue & Gray finished ninth out of 16 schools in its last tournament at the course.

Georgetown will wrap the 2019 fall schedule up with a trip to the University of Delaware for the Blue Hen Invitational, held at Rehoboth Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware on October 19-20. The Hoyas finished third last season with two rounds below 300.

The Hoyas finished second at the 2019 BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep at the Callawassie Island Golf Club in Callawassie, South Carolina. As a team, Georgetown placed among the top 10 in seven of its 10 tournaments on the season, highlighted by a team victory at the 2019 Hoya Invitational.
