WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team travels to State College, Pennsylvania this weekend for the 2019 Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State. The two-day, three-round tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,322-yard Penn State Blue Course. A link for live scoring will be available at GUHoyas.com.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hoyas are coming off a season-opening 17th-place finish at the 16th Annual Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. The tournament featured six teams ranked in the WGCA Coaches Preseason Poll. Georgetown was led by freshman
Lauren May who finished with an 11-over par 227.
HOYAS LINEUP
- The Hoyas will travel seven student-athletes this weekend, with two playing as individuals.
- Freshman Dana Choi was second on the team in her debut at the Cougar Classic, carding a 13-over par 229.
- Senior Ashley Fitzgibbons finished with a 22-over par 238 at the Cougar Classic.
- Junior Elizabeth Nguyen will make her season debut this weekend. She tied for 13th at last spring's BIG EAST Championship.
- Senior Kate Evanko will also be playing in her first tournament of the fall. She had a season-best 32nd-place finish at the Hoya Invitational last April.
- May was GU's top finisher in her collegiate debut at the Cougar Classic.
- Sophomore Baili Park and freshman Esther Park will compete as individuals.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
- The Hoyas will be a part of an 11-team field that includes Akron, Bucknell, High Point, Ohio University, Penn State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Navy, Pennsylvania and Youngstown State.
- Teams will tee off at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and play two continuous rounds. Sunday's final round will begin at 9 a.m.
- Last season, Georgetown finished eighth at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Evanko was GU's second-highest finisher, carding a 54-hole total of 11-over par 227 to tie for 33rd place.
