WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team will travel to New Jersey this weekend to compete in the Princeton Invitational. The Hoyas, who have finished either first or second at Princeton each of the past three years, will play 36 holes over Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 6,121-yard Springdale Golf Club. LAST TIME OUT
- The Hoyas finished 10th at the 2019 Nittany Lion Invitational, turning in a 72-hole score of 74-over par 938.
- Georgetown carded a team score of 302 in Saturday's first round before recording consecutive rounds of 318.
- Freshman Esther Park played as an individual and was GU's top scorer with a 13-over par 229, tying for 28th place. She had four birdies in the first round on Saturday and finished with seven overall over three rounds.
- Freshman Lauren May finished tied for 34th with a 15-over par 231. She turned in a career-best 2-under par 70 in the first round.
HOYA LINEUP
- Head Coach Kate Schanuel has not set the team's lineup for the weekend, but the Hoyas will travel seven student-athletes to Princeton with five making the lineup and two playing as individuals.
- Park and May are coming off their strong performances at Penn State.
- Seniors Kate Evanko and Ashley Fitzgibbons were one stroke apart at 237 and 238, respectively over the three rounds at Penn State.
- Junior Elizabeth Nguyen carded a 239 last weekend, including a 75 in the second round.
- Freshman Dana Choi was three strokes behind Nguyen while sophomore Baili Park, who played as an individual, turned in a 243.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
- The Hoyas will be a part of a 12-team field that includes Albany, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rollins, St. John's, Seton Hall and Yale.
- Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings
- Georgetown won the Princeton Invitational in 2017, and finished second at last year's event, setting a program record for a 36-hole tournament, turning in a 20-over par 596. Fitzgibbons carded an 8-over par 152, Evanko turned in a 156 and Nguyen, who played as an individual, also finished with a 152.
