…
Greetings from sunny Puerto Rico!
Starting off the second day of the new year, we had a long double practice day. Our morning started with an 8 – 10 a.m. practice, followed immediately by a 50-person pileup trying to get breakfast at our hotel. After our quick little refueling, some went down to enjoy the beach, some lounged by the pool and a lot of people fell right back asleep. Before we knew it, we had to load the busses back up for our second practice of the day. The mid-distance training group spent the first hour of practice with a dry land session full of jump rope, stadium running and burpees. After practice we headed back to the hotel for another massive line of athletes for our team dinner at the hotel.
That night, a lot of Hoyas found their different ways to unwind. Some people ventured into the hotel's card room for some friendly card games, and others found some ice cream. On Friday, we had our first afternoon off, practically a holiday. During our morning practice the rain was coming down, but it didn't stop us from having some fun off the blocks and the diving boards.
After practice and breakfast, we had the opportunity to do whatever we desired with our afternoon. Our first bit of time away from the pool took us all over San Juan. Some people took a lazy day at the beach, and a few crazies rented surfboards and rode the waves. Lots of us took a quick trip over to Old San Juan to walk through the streets and even went through their historic castles and forts.
To finish off the day, our team boarded the busses for a team dinner away from the hotel, this time at a restaurant in San Juan. Later that night, the Georgetown alumni in the area hosted our team in a private restaurant room to watch the Georgetown vs. Seton Hall basketball game. So far the trip has been very exciting and we're looking forward to our next few days of nice weather, fast swimming and perfect diving!
