Hello from San Juan!
We are over halfway done with our training trip, and the Hoyas have been

rising to the challenge and putting in some incredible work in the pool. However, this trip has not just been all about swimming. These past few days have allowed us to bond and learn new things about one another. From sharing childhood stories to singing on the bus ride after practice, it only takes one look to realize that this team is not only special in their athletic abilities but also their connection with each other. The Hoyas still manage to stay positive and continue cheering one another on as we finish some of the toughest practices we have done all season. It's pretty amazing to be surrounded by a group of people who are constantly pushing and encouraging to give your all every practice.
Yesterday, we had our afternoon off, and some chose to explore different parts of the island, while others ventured to a different beach a few blocks down from the hotel, to play frisbee, volleyball and body surf. Put together a bunch of competitive, D1 athletes, and you are bound to get some intense volleyball games. In between swimming in the ocean and playing games, many Hoyas also enjoyed Italian ice from a local vendor walking his cart on the beach. The weather was perfect for a fun afternoon with our teammates. To finish off the day, the team regrouped and enjoyed our last team dinner for the trip.
It's always a good day to be a Hoya, but this week has made us all extra proud to wear that G on our caps. I'm excited to finish up our last few days of this trip with some great practices and even better memories. Hoya Saxa!
