FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Georgetown University softball team fell in both contests on the second day of the FGCU Kickoff Classic, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University. The Hoyas had an early lead in game one against Long Island University but eventually fell short 3-1. In the second game of the day, GU had a tough 5-0 loss to host FGCU. With the pair of losses, Georgetown holds a 0-4 mark on the early season while LIU advances to 2-1 and FGCU holds a 3-0 undefeated record.
 
Against LIU
 
How it Happened
	- Georgetown took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Junior Macy Cartwright walked to first and made it to third off a perfect sacrifice bunt from sophomore Kiki Besnard. Cartwright scored the first run for the Hoyas when Noelle Holiday hit a sacrifice fly and earned an RBI after Cartwright sped to the plate on the throw.
- The Sharks took the lead in the top of the fifth off of a three-run homer. LIU's Ciara Granado hit one out of the park and brought in two runners on base to make it 3-1.
- The Blue & Gray struggled to get the bats going in order to take back its lead, dropping a 3-1 decision.
Of Note
	- Junior London Diller pitched the first 6.0 innings for the Blue & Gray. Diller gave up three runs off of five hits, struck out two and walked four.
- Senior Katie Vannicola finished the game for GU in the circle and didn't allow any hits from the Sharks as the Hoyas tried to hold them off from scoring any more runs.
- Five different Hoyas recorded a hit in game one of the day, including Cartwright who also scored the lone run for Georgetown and walked once.
Against FGCU
 
How it Happened
	- FGCU managed to take a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Eagles scored its first run off of a single and brought in another pair off of a two-run double from Ahnie Jumper.
- In the bottom of the second, the Eagles extended their lead to 4-0 off of a double. FGCU attempted to score two runs on the play, but freshman catcher Nora Campo managed to get the out at home.
- The Eagles brought in their fifth run of the game in their last at bat off of a sacrifice fly to senior Alexa Dolby in center field.
- GU couldn't find contact at the plate in the remaining innings and fell 5-0 to the Sharks.
Of Note
	- Sophomore Cassie Henning got the nod in the circle and pitched the first 1.0 innings. Henning allowed three runs off of four hits until Vannicola relieved her. Vannicola went 4.0 innings and gave up one run off of three hits. Senior Casey Kozak finished it off for the Hoyas and allowed a run off of a pair of hits.
- Sophomore Mae Forshey and Campo each had a hit against FGCU.
