Georgetown Football Releases 2020 Schedule

WASHINGTON – Head Coach Rob Sgarlata and the Georgetown football program have released the schedule for the upcoming 2020 season. The Hoyas will play five home games at Cooper Field with three Patriot League contests as well as nonconference games against Dayton and Columbia.  Starting times for all 11 games will be released at a later date.
 
Marist – Sept. 5 – Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
  • The Hoyas are 17-5 all-time against the Red Foxes and have won five of the past six meetings. Georgetown is 7-3 and has won four straight when playing on Marist's home field.
  • Last season, the Hoyas cruised to a 43-3 win over Marist behind 424 total yards, including 272 rushing yards. Gunther Johnson ran for two touchdowns while passing for another. Joshua Tomas caught a touchdown pass and ran for another, while Herman Moultrie III also found the end zone.
 
Dayton – Sept. 12 – Cooper Field
  • This will be the second meeting between the two programs, and the first visit for the Flyers to Cooper Field.
  • The first matchup came in 2014 when the Hoyas fell 23-14 in Dayton, Ohio.
 
Harvard – Sept. 19 – Cambridge, Mass.
  • Georgetown is 0-4 all-time against Harvard, with the last meeting coming in 2017. The two squads met at historic RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
  • The Hoyas made the trip to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2016 and dropped a hard-fought battle, 31-17. The defense forced four turnovers, including two interceptions in the end zone, and blocked a punt on special teams.
 
Columbia – Sept. 26 – Cooper Field
  • The annual battle for the Lou Little Trophy returns to Cooper Field in 2020 with the Hoyas holding a 3-2 edge in the annual series. Overall, GU is 3-4 is seven meetings against the Lions.
  • Last fall, the Hoyas reclaimed the Lou Little Trophy with a 24-10 victory in New York. Moultrie ran for a pair of touchdowns while the GU defense forced five turnovers on three interceptions and two fumbles, and recorded four sacks.
 
Colgate – Oct. 3 – Hamilton, N.Y.
  • The Hoyas will make the trip to Colgate, looking for their first win in Hamilton, New York.
  • Last season, the Raiders used a 10-point third quarter to pull away for a 24-14 win over GU at Cooper Field. Johnson rushed for a touchdown and connected with Tomas for another score.
 
Holy Cross – Oct. 17 – Cooper Field
  • Georgetown looks to avenge a season-ending loss, and snap a five-game losing streak to the Crusaders when Holy Cross visits the Hilltop.
  • In last year's loss in Worcester, Massachusetts, Roemello Walton finished with a career-high 10 tackles and had a fumble recovery, while Jovone Campbell also had a career day with nine tackles and a sack.
 
Bucknell – Oct. 24 – Cooper Field (Homecoming)
  • The Hoyas remain home for a second-straight week to host Bucknell for homecoming at Cooper Field, where they beat the Bison 14-3 in 2018.
  • Georgetown held a 17-6 lead entering the fourth quarter of last year's matchup, but Bucknell rallied for the 20-17 win. Joshua Stakely recorded his first career 100-yard game, finishing with 139 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown.
 
Lafayette – Oct. 31 – Easton, Pa.
  • Georgetown will hit the road, looking for its third-consecutive win over Lafayette with a matchup in Easton, Pennsylvania.
  • Johnson passed for two touchdowns last fall against the Leopards and the Hoyas finished with two interceptions and stopped a late drive to come away with the 14-10 win at Cooper Field.
 
Fordham – Nov. 7 – Bronx, N.Y.
  • The Hoyas will travel to Fordham, looking for their second-straight win in the Bronx after defeating the Rams 23-11 in 2018.
  • Last season, Fordham scored the game-winning touchdown with 16 seconds left to give the Hoyas a 30-27 heartbreaking loss. GU recorded 525 offensive yards, its most ever against a Patriot League opponent. Johnson passed for a season-high 280 yards while also rushing for 81 yards and two scores and Moultrie ran for two touchdowns.
 
Lehigh – Nov. 14 – Cooper Field (Senior Day)
  • The Blue & Gray will welcome Lehigh to Cooper Field, where the Hoyas last defeated the Mountain Hawks 22-16 in double overtime in 2018 to end Lehigh's 17-game winning streak in the series.
  • Lehigh kicked a field goal as time expired to come away with a 27-24 win last season. Johnson passed for 267 yards and three touchdowns, including a 72-yard pass to Michael Dereus in the final two minutes. Stakely converted the 2-point conversion to tie the game.
 
San Diego – Nov. 21 – San Diego, Calif.
  • Georgetown will travel to San Diego, the six-time defending Pioneer Football League champions, to close out the regular season, marking the second all-time meeting between the two programs.
  • The last time Georgetown and San Diego played was in 2001 when the Hoyas came away with a 24-21 victory in California.
