WASHINGTON – In its final out of the season, the Georgetown University women's rowing team took home 12 medals from the Head of the Occoquan regatta in Fairfax Station, Virginia on Saturday. The Hoyas had podium finishes in five of their six races over the weekend, which brings the team to a total of 25 medals over the four-week fall season.
Results
- The varsity 8+ boats took to the course first for the Hoyas and raced late Saturday morning, and the two Georgetown entries placed first and second in the race. The two shells finished within four seconds of each other, both breaking the 18-minute mark for the race.
- The Hoyas sent their junior varsity 8+ shells down the river shortly after the V8+ and saw success in the second race of the day. Georgetown swept the podium in the JV8+ category, placing first, second, and third in the race.
- Two more medals came Georgetown's way in the freshman/novice 8+ race. The Hoyas placed first and second, finishing more than a minute and a half faster than the third-place contender.
- In a field of 20 shells, the Hoyas earned first and third place finishes in the varsity 4+ competition on Saturday afternoon. The University of Delaware finished in the silver medal spot, completing the course 35 seconds after Georgetown's top shell.
- The Hoyas racked up three more medals in their final race of the day, sweeping the top spots again in the junior varsity 4+.
