Hoyas Fall To LIU On The Road

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Georgetown University field hockey team lost its first match of the season against Long Island University, dropping Sunday's game on the road 2-1. The Hoyas are 2-1-0 on the season in their first three games.

How it Happened
·         Scoreless through the first quarter, the Hoyas found the net in the second quarter. Senior Sydney Stephenson scored with five minutes left in the period.
·         Long Island University quickly answered and tied it up with two minutes left in first half.
·        The Hoyas had three shot attempts in the third quarter but failed to convert. The Sharks outshot the Hoyas 12-7 on the day.
·         The Sharks scored early in the fourth quarter to gain the lead. Stephenson had the only shot attempt for Georgetown in the final period, but her attempt was blocked. The Hoyas went without a shot attempt in the final eight minutes of regulation.

Of Note
·         Stephenson scored her second goal of the season for the Hoyas.
·         The Hoyas dropped their first game of the season and remain on the road for the next two games.
